Group Treasurer:

Do you have a good head for numbers without losing sight of the big picture?

If so, you could use your talents to help transform the lives of young people in our local community.

A Group Treasurer supports the Group Leadership Team and the members of our Trustee Board by keeping track of our money.

Our Trustee Board plays a key role in the running of our Group. Trustees make decisions and carry out administrative tasks to ensure that the best quality scouting can be delivered to young people in our sections. In fact, we could not function properly without it!

All our Trustee Board Members have different skills to offer, come from different backgrounds and have varying experiences. This helps to ensure a variety of perspectives and a more rounded and effective team. Maybe you could bring something new to the team?

This is a rewarding role and is ideal for someone who would like to support local scouting but not by working directly with young people. If you’ve got an eye for figures, then why not support the growth and development of young people and our leadership team by taking on this vital role.

Beaver Leaders:

Being a peer leader is about being a superhero for a little while – doing things like welcoming new people to the Colony, being extra helpful during a camp, or taking charge of a game or activity. Everyone takes it in turns to take on the challenge.

Cub Team Volunteers:

Cubs start small but think big, making the very most of what they have and seeking out adventures wherever they go. Throughout their journey, you’ll help them work towards a range of skill-boosting badges and awards. From athletics and astronomy to photography and pioneering, there’s something for everyone to get stuck into.

Scout Team Volunteers:

Week by week, thousands of ordinary people show up at Scout meetings to empower young people to learn new skills, make new friends and learn to stand on their own two feet. No two weeks are the same, but the impact you make is always great.

FAQ's:

Do I need to be a present volunteer?

No. You could be, or you could be new to us.

Do I need to have been a Scout or Girl Guide?

No. We have brilliant leaders who have been and brilliant leaders who haven’t. We think a sense of adventure, sense of humour and a desire to help others is a great start.

Will I have to run it all on my own?

No there are other leaders in the sections who all help support each other.

Is there training?

The Scout Association has a range of training available. Some, such as safeguarding and safety, is mandatory for all roles including the trustee team; whilst others can be tailored to your needs.

When do the sections meet:

Scouts meet on a Monday evening 6:45pm until 8:30pm.

Cubs meet on a Tuesday evening 6:45pm until 8:15pm.

Beavers meet on a Wednesday evening 6pm until 7pm.

The Trustee Team meet once or twice a term depending on what's going on.

What are the section ages:

Scouts - 10 1/2 - 14yrs

Cubs - 8yrs - 10 1/2yrs

Beavers - 6yrs - 8yrs

Do I have to attend all sections:

No you do not have to attend Scouts, Cubs, Beavers unless you want to, you can work with a single section.

Is it forever?

No. No-one should come into this expecting to do 20 years (although if you enjoy it…..). Ideally we are looking for individuals who could expect to commit for 2 years.
